LA PERLA is boarded on either port or starboard side of the on-deck covered dining /cockpit area. The entrance to the main salon is on the port side of the covered cockpit and is down four steps. The salon is finished in satin finished teak that Jongert is famous for. To port is a built-in stereo center with built-in storage drawers for china and cutlery. The starboard side of the main salon features an L-shaped couch measuring approximately 12 feet in total and there is a custom teak/hydraulic table that opens automatically and converts itself from a cocktail to dining table. The Deck Salon feature allows one to look out, while seated, through large windows both port and starboard. Additionally, there is a double set of windows to the aft cockpit and the long view forward through the raised pilothouse, contributes to an overall feeling of spaciousness and essentially 360 degree views from LA PERLA’s salon.

Findings and recommendations:
TOPSIDES AND BOTTOM
The painted topsides were inspected from the dock only. There are a few minor blisters, mainly below the rails and by the ports. These should be ground out, filled and touched up with matching paint.
The bottom was cleaned by a team of divers. The bow thruster, keel, rudder, shaft and prop are in satisfactory condition.
DECKS AND SUPERSTRUCTURE
The superstructure is in fair condition.
Painted surfaces should be compounded and waxed. Minor chips, scratches and crazes should be ground out and filled and refinished.
Some wood deterioration was noted on the flybridge. The wood should be removed and replaced with a weather resistant construction material and repainted.
The teak decks need attention. Some areas are lifting and should be removed to allow for repairs to the sub deck plating.
The pulpits and lifelines were inspected. They all appeared to be in good condition and to be well secured to the deck.
The lifejackets were found to be in serviceable condition. They are adequate in number for a vessel of this size.
The anchors were found to be in serviceable condition. They are adequate in size for the vessel.
INTERIOR AND STRUCTURE
The frames, floors and plating were found to be in generally good condition, however, there are several areas of minor corrosion. These should be cleaned to bare metal and painted, to prevent further deterioration.
There are several interior leaks evident from the overhead panels which can be traced to compromised deck areas.
The bilges should be routinely cleaned and kept dry.
The fire extinguishers and automatic system have been recently serviced and recertified. This should be repeated on an annual basis.
The steering gear was inspected. All appeared to be in good working order.
The electrical wiring system appeared to be in good condition and to be in accordance with marine specifications.
The batteries are properly secured in boxes with cabin soles acting as lids.
PLUMBING SYSTEM AND TANKS
The seacocks appear to be in generally fair condition. They should be cleaned and serviced on a regular basis.
The 24 volt bilge pump appeared to be in working order.
Inspection of the fuel and water tanks, where accessible, revealed all to be in fair condition.
Minor corrosion was noted on the tank tops. They should be cleaned and painted with a corrosion inhibitor to prevent further material loss.
Some deterioration was noted to the air conditioning piping and valves. The deteriorated valves should be replaced. The deteriorated piping should be repaired or replaced.
ENGINES AND MACHINERY
The engines and generators were inspected, where accessible, externally. All was found to be in good condition with no obvious signs of fuel, oil, or water leaks.
The engines and generators should be thoroughly serviced. The oil, filters, coolant, hoses, belts, etc. should be replaced as necessary.
Some deterioration was noted on the engine exhaust piping in the engine room. The
deteriorated material should be cut out and replaced.
MASTS AND RIGGING
The masts, standing and running rigging was inspected from deck level. All appeared to be in fair condition.
Air switches have to be repaired or replaced. Hydraulic backstay adjusters may need to be rebuilt or replaced.
The dinghy davit appeared to be in good condition.
