GEORGIA has a full width master suite aft and below with four en suite guest cabins plus a staff or children’s cabin (which was previously a gym and is now a stateroom, also with a head with shower). As a result, she comfortably sleeps ten or twelve in the owner’s accommodations area in five or six staterooms.
GEORGIA’s flybridge has direct access from the bridge and main cockpit and features port and starboard helm stations, seating aft, hot tub and sun pads all the way aft.
An aft stairway from the flybridge to the aft deck, leads to the air conditioned alfresco, yet protected seating and dining area. The cockpit or aft deck has tables either side and offers exceptional views and is away from the helm and sail control areas which provides excellent owner privacy on the main deck level. There is an outside powder room in this area, forward to starboard, which is very unusual but a highly practical inclusion.
Forward, via large stainless and glass doors the formal main salon is to port with large flat screen TV forward with a sit-down bar area to starboard. The main deck salon windows in GEORGIA are full height and give an incredible view out, unlike many sailing yachts.
Forward to starboard, past one of the accesses to the guest accommodations below is the main starboard side guest entrance. Just forward is an internal on deck powder room.
To port at the main deck passageway are stairs up to the bridge with access to the flybridge. Forward from the starboard side entrance is the formal dining room which is on the same main deck level as the main salon giving easy access on one level, unlike many sailing yachts which are encumbered with stairs.
Forward of the dining salon is the second access down to the guest accommodations and to the galley to port and crew dinette to starboard.

GEORGIA’s engine room is aft of all accommodations, containing the noise under the aft deck seating area. Here, the powerful, big Caterpillar engine is installed on level mounts with a conventional drive (no V drives) and a very short shaft driving a gigantic variable pitch Hundestad prop just in front of her stainless steel rudder. This makes for efficient powering and maneuverability.
Aft of the engine room, accessed via a watertight automatic door through the engine room bulkhead or a large hydraulic deck hatch or fold down transom door, is the lazarette or garage. This is a large area, housing deck gear, water sports equipment, or a second tender. All are serviced via the purpose-built deck crane.
GEORGIA has a fold down transom, with port and starboard staircases down from the aft deck and a delightful seating area on the lower beach club area.
Ground Tackle: 2 x 716 lb./325 kg Plow type stainless steel anchors to Lloyd’s requirements through the stem with 2 x 540’/165 m below deck galvanized stud link 19 mm U2 chain on below deck wild cats. Maxwell (Model 11000) windlass, new 2013.

SAFETY AND FIRE PROTECTION
Security: Two spreader mounted Panasonic digital pan, tilt and zoom cameras, mounted at the first spreaders, cover all of the foredeck and aft deck. Monitors are in the crew mess and the bridge.
Note: A Panasonic 22 x pan, tilt and zoom camera, mounted at the mast head, gives 360 degree views of everything around the yacht for security.

SAILS AND RIGGING
Rig and Rigging:
The all carbon fiber mast and boom were designed by Southern Spars in Auckland, New Zealand and built by Southern Spars. At the time of the design and manufacture of GEORGIA’s mast, she was the largest sloop in the world, in terms of the height of her mast and her physical size.
Standing rigging is rod by Ocean Yacht Systems. Running rigging is Spectra and Aramid.
Mast un-stepped 2013 – full service and new Rod installed. Furlers/swivels serviced at Reckman 2013.
80% of all rod rigging replaced with new, 2013.
Full mast repaint in Alexseal in 2013.

All sails are in carbon/spectra by North Doyle. Sails include fully battened mainsail with 6 C-Tech carbon battens and in boom furling. All sails new by Doyle 2014/15. Main new 2014, Reacher, Jib and Staysail new in 2015.
The mainsail has six full length battens, making for a full sail with moderate roach. The mainsail can be reefed at each batten using tension on the halyard with the batten under the carbon mandrill in the boom. This makes for a very efficient sail and a very good reef. The new design and upgraded main in 2014 includes many new design features, improved material, detail and design progression from the original and 2005 mainsails. There was a small increase in sail area that improves light air performance but also features increased durability. The battens are the highest quality available and underwent a redesign in shape and durability. Lessons learned from the 2005 mainsail were used in the development of the new sails.
The leading headsail is a reacher of moderate weight cloth and great sail area for moderate to light breezes.
The second sail aft is the jib of heavier cloth for moderate to heavy breezes plus sailing close hauled.
The blade headsail is a powerhouse, nearly equal in size to the mainsail. The headsail, like the mainsail, has been updated in design, quality, material and size.
The 2014 sails generated a significant increase in performance that maintains good boat speed in light airs enabling the yacht to sail longer without the use of the main engine for longer periods, maintaining cruising and delivery schedules.
The forestaysail works well with the jib in the close-hauled situation, and is made of heavy two-ply cloth for use in heavy air when the other two sails are rolled away.
The gennaker is stored in a large sock and can be deployed for light air reaching and heavier air down wind. This sail is stored ashore.
The three hydraulic furlers on the bow for the headsails were designed and developed by Reckman in Germany and custom built for GEORGIA. These furlers are very powerful, very fast and the best that the industry has to offer. The three furlers were fully serviced in 2013 and both the furlers and the swivels were rebuilt then.
AUDIO AND VISUAL EQUIPMENT
GEORGIA is equipped with an advanced entertainment system controlled by the well respected brand, Crestron. Created by the Fort Lauderdale-based Intellect Integrated Electronics, the computer controlled system handles the output of nine satellite TV tuners, two 40″ LED screens, and movies and music held on a computer hard drive (Kaleidescape), navigational displays and pictures from underway, security and masthead cameras. The selected images are displayed on any of the yacht’s screens. A total of 52 B&W speakers, including 16 deck speakers and two complete Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound systems, reproduce high quality sound. The system is controlled by Crestron 7″/18 cm wireless touch screens, positioned in every compartment, which are able to access any item of the system through easily mastered displays.
There are Blue Ray televisions and Blue Ray and high definition DVD players and televisions in the master cabin and the main salon. Both the main salon and master stateroom have 2017 HD Sony televisions
The televisions are all hidden behind mirrors and utilize lift mechanisms in all cabins. The main salon television is hidden in its own locker.
The satellite television system has also seen upgrades with a recent motorized antenna fitted and 8 DirecTV receivers. (Caribbean & USA)
The audio system is fitted with a party function that will broadcast the same music in all of the common areas, interior and exterior, which can be controlled remotely and from the central station..
The wireless network has been upgraded to use Cisco/Engenius/Ruckus system components, regarded as the best quality manufacturers in this field along with Kerio Control for online security and protection.
The computer system is extensive with server and wireless access points throughout the accommodation and cockpit areas-all of which were updated in the 2015 refit. Two Vsat units ensure no satellite blockage areas and with a dedicated IT specialist that keeps the unit up to specification. GEORGIA has excellent communications and audio visual systems. PC’s in the engine room, crew mess and bridge have all been updated in the last 24 months. Printers, and scanners are all located on the bridge and are accessible through the wireless network.

GEORGIA’S CRUISING HISTORY
From June 2009 to date GEORGIA has covered over 112,000 miles. The owner was onboard for 81,000 of those miles.
From 2009 to 2013 Georgia cruised the Mediterranean, the US East coast including Florida, and then transited the Panama Canal to Costa Rica.
From there she cruised down to Chile and Cape Horn and from there through the South Pacific from Galapagos and Easter Island to Australia. She spent two winters in the South Pacific and a southern summer in each of New Zealand and Australia.
In late 2013 – 2014 Georgia underwent a refit at Rybovich then raced in the Newport Bucket and cruised New England. From there she headed to Colombia, back to the Caribbean and won the St. Bart’s Bucket !!
From there she went down to Brazil, Argentina and across the South Atlantic to Cape Town, South Africa, and then back across to St. Martin, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, back to Panama, to West Palm Beach to then again to the Caribbean, spending 2015 and 2016 in the Caribbean, Bermuda and the US North East.
She then departed Newport for St. Martin, Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica, spent the Summer of 2017 in California and SE Alaska, back to Costa Rica, and then back through Panama to St. Martin/Caribbean, Barbados, South Florida and for summer 2018 will cruise New England and the Canadian Maritimes.
